Common Camper Van Solar Wiring Faults And How We Fix Them
Updated 2026-05-11
Most camper van solar problems come from undersized wiring, poor connections, incorrect charge controller settings, or a tripped lithium BMS, not failed panels. We test panel output, controller input, and battery acceptance to find where the power is being lost.
Start at the panel
We measure open-circuit and loaded panel voltage first. If the panels make power but the battery is not charging, the fault is downstream.
Controller and wiring
Wrong controller settings for a lithium bank, undersized wire, and loose lugs all cost you charge. Correct fusing and gauge fix most underperformance.
The BMS
A tripped battery management system will refuse charge entirely. We diagnose the lockout and reset or repair it.
